La Perouse Public School’s IndigiGrow program brought us out to Phillip Bay recently, and it was the kind of delivery that felt purposeful from the moment we pulled up. Twenty-one sandwich, wrap and baguette platters is a serious volume, and with fruit platters in two sizes alongside them, it was clear this was feeding a full room of people rather than a small gathering.
The chocolate macadamia brownies were a thoughtful addition to round things out after the savoury. What caught our attention was the drinks order. Peach, ginger lemon, lemon lime mint and cherry plum kombucha cans across the group gave people something to actually choose from rather than a single default option. For a school program with a community focus, that kind of consideration matters.
Biopak plates and napkins were included, along with tongs, so the setup was genuinely self-contained once everything was laid out. The kombucha cans were the last thing placed on the table and they were the first thing reached for.
